Rose’s Story

In 1997 after the birth of my last son, I developed a prolapsed bladder and uterus. My situation was not only painful but embarrassing at the age of 37. The medical advice I received from one of the most reputable OB-GYNS in South Texas was to “lift the bladder and take the uterus out”. The doctor's exact words were, “a uterus is only good for two things, babies and cancer, and because you don't plan on having any more children it's best to remove it and lessen the risk of cancer”. During my consultation, I also broached the subject of whether I would have to take Hormone Replacement. The doctor's other famous statement to me was, “because I'll be performing a partial hysterectomy, leaving your ovaries in, you'll have no need for HRT”.

I left the doctor's office feeling like he was doing me a favor with reducing the risk of uterine cancer, no periods and a giving me a new lease on life. The day of my surgery finally arrived. Hind sight… it was the beginning of the end. The surgery went way past the allotted amount of time and I bled profusely on the operating table. My husband had to approve for a blood transfusion. What was supposed to be a day and a half stay in the hospital became five. When I arrived at home, almost immediately I started to have the night sweats and depression. My doctor said this was normal and that it would subside. It never did. In fact from 1999 to 2004 before I went to the Hotze Health and Wellness Center, I tried everything. Counseling, antidepressants, herbal remedies, lab tests, over the counter medicine and prayer. My husband and children saw a dramatic spiral down hill for five (5) years.

My moods were on edge and at any given moment I'd scream and cry. I found no joy.
I had no desire in being a wife and mom, going to church, having a career, or taking physical care of myself. I was going through the motions but I felt dead inside. In 2003, my husband Charles and I moved our family to Houston. The stress of the move sent me over the top. Now, not only was I emotionally not well, but I felt exhausted and sick.
I was constantly fighting colds and infections, and my skin was aging at what seemed overnight. My husband and I prayed that either I would be healed or that somehow I would find help.

One day my husband came home from a business trip and showed me the airline's magazine. In it was a woman's testimony very similar to mine. We felt the article was answered prayer. In January 2004, I started to live again. After a complete battery of tests, Dr. Ellsworth, at the Hotze Health and Wellness Center, helped me back to health. I take Armour Thyroid for my Hypothyroidism, Progesterone and Estrogen as Hormone Replacement, and Cortisol for Adrenal Fatigue.  I still follow the Yeast-Free eating program suggested by the doctors and try to exercise as often as possible. I am here to testify that I have not had any depression for two years, my thoughts and emotions are in balance, I feel energetic and I look so forward to having a loving relationship with my husband and children. I THANK GOD and Hotze Health and Wellness Center for giving me my life back.
