Diane’s Story – Acne, Antibiotics & Accutane
When I first started talking to Dr. Sheridan he looked at me and asked why I was there. I was tongue-tied; I didn’t know exactly where to start. Luckily, he did. He looked at me and said, “You’re twenty years old, you don’t need to be worrying about these kinds of problems. You need to be out there enjoying life. Let’s get you back out there.”
Those are the words that started my road to recovery. It has been a road full of twists, turns, and cravings; but more filled with hope and sustained by the faith from the staff, Dr. Sheridan, my parents, and God. To paraphrase 1 Timothy 12, it says because you are young you can set an example in speech and in mind to everyone. It is with a grateful heart that I will try and set an example by sharing my story.
When I was just 12 years old my skin began to break out. At the time I was sure that it was just hormone related and like so many other people my age, it would go away quickly and appear only every great once in a while. Unfortunately my skin decided to go against my hopes and it became very unpredictable and hard to control. As a result I turned to antibiotics and continued on that path, even taking Accutane, with the hope of stopping the breakouts. I tried everything and found that nothing worked. It was a repeating cycle of seeing the dermatologist, who always made me feel like a number, and trying new prescriptions. I had resigned myself to having to wear concealer all my life, when my mom suggested that I visit the Hotze Health and Wellness Clinic. She listened to the radio everyday and felt that maybe I could benefit, since it seemed that so many other people had found it to be their own on Earth miracle. I’ll admit I was doubtful at first but I was willing to trust her and see what it was like.
The minute I got in there I felt hope. It wasn’t one tangible thing that made me feel this way, but I could just sense it. The staff was friendly and made me feel like I wasn’t alone; that I wasn’t going to remain in the present; that I had a future that was wonderfully different and better. Dr. Sheridan sat down with my mom and me and explained everything. He told me that the antibiotics were most likely the cause of all the symptoms that had gone along with the acne, such as the irregular heartbeat, hypothyroidism, cold sweats, and shaking hands. He gave me what I have considered to be one of the best gifts he could give me: the knowledge and access to bio-identical hormones. These have and are leading me to experience a renewed sense of hope, perseverance, and renewal of life. I have never felt better. Within one week of taking the Armour Thyroid, progesterone, and cortisol, among others, I began to notice my skin was clearing up, I felt more energized, I was feeling more in control of my body and concentration of mind. Every day I kept seeing a little more of an improvement and I felt better and better, both physically and mentally. To this day I continue to follow the eating program and prescribed vitamins and bio-identical hormones religiously, even though I am at school and it is hard to maintain the regimented yeast-free program!
I am currently a sophomore in college and am finally realizing how great it is to be young and actually feel young again. To know that those symptoms can be cured and are being cured because of the dedication and patience of the Hotze clinic, Dr. Sheridan, and the amazing bio-identical hormones, I find it hard to not share the news with everyone I know! I can never express how grateful I am, but I can hope and pray that this story speaks to anyone who has been in my situation, whether it be a mother, daughter, son, or friend. “To whom much is given, much is expected.” That quote reminded me that I can’t be content to just know about the Hotze clinic and bio-identical hormones and how they have helped me, but to spread the word and encourage everyone to be a part of this important and wonderful program and everything that is part of it.
