Hotze Health & Wellness Center Adds EBCT Imaging Services to Preventative Screening Program

HOUSTON (August 5, 2015) – Hotze Health & Wellness Center (HHWC), a world leader in the alternative health care industry, is pleased to announce that it has added Electronic Beam Computed Tomography (EBCT) imaging to its array of service offerings under its preventative screening program. The scanner will be used primarily for conducting coronary artery scans and virtual colonoscopies.

The EBCT C300 scanner, developed by Imatron technologies, is the latest generation of diagnostic CT technology. The scanner uses patented technology called electron beam computed tomography, a highly advanced CT technology that has no moving parts. Using an electron beam rather than the standard CT x-ray tube, imaging is done at speeds up to 10 times faster and with 1/10th the radiation of other CT scanners. The EBCT’s unique capabilities enable the scanner to perform high-speed, high-volume imaging, using very low radiation, to create virtually motion-free visualization of the heart, vessels and all organs in the torso, allowing our specialists to see premature, pre-symptomatic heart and vascular disease, colon cancers, and other abnormalities.

EBCT for Heart Scan
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. Coronary heart disease is the most common type of heart disease, killing nearly 380,000 people annually. EBCT is non-invasive, open, and safe, and emits the lowest radiation in the CT industry. It is the only imaging technology to offer 33, 50, or 100 millisecond (ms) True Temporal Resolution, images at up to 30 frames per second. This capability is important because the fastest possible scan modes are required to image high and/or irregular heartbeats often associated with patients with developing or advanced heart disease.

EBCT for Virtual Colonoscopy
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States. EBCT takes pictures of the inside of the colon from outside of the body, allowing a physician to examine a colon that may be constricted by swelling or abnormal growth. It is used to locate polyps and growths of tissue in the colon and rectum, which may be precancerous. With early detection, some polyps can be found and removed before they can turn into cancer. If cancer is already present, it is more likely to be curable if it is found early.

Benefits of a virtual colonoscopy:
• Minimally invasive
• Does not use a colonoscope
• Has less risk of colon tearing, or perforation, than conventional colonoscopy
• More comfortable
• No sedation required
• Patients can resume normal activities afterward
• Lasts about 10 to 15 minutes, about half the time of a conventional colonoscopy
