Hypothyroidism Symptom Series: Extreme Fatigue

One of the most debilitating symptoms of hypothyroidism is extreme fatigue. You wake up tired. You drag yourself through the day tired. You go to bed tired. And the next morning the cycle begins again. Will the fatigue ever end? It’s hard to remember what it felt like to be truly awake and energized, consciously participating in life.

Extreme fatigue takes a toll on everything. Many hypothyroid individuals find themselves taking naps during their lunch break to stay afloat for the rest of the day. Your social life ceases to exist. Relationships are difficult to maintain when you are constantly exhausted. It takes energy; a resource that you just don’t have at the moment.

The impact of low thyroid and fatigue on parenting is debilitating. We try to squeeze every single ounce of energy to make that soccer practice or help them with their math, but what happens when you just run out of steam? What happens when you just can’t physically muster the energy to make it through the day?

Have you visited doctor after doctor seeking an answer for your fatigue? Have you been told that you must be depressed and sent on your way with a prescription for an antidepressant? Has your doctor checked your thyroid status only to say that your blood tests look “normal?” Debilitating fatigue is not normal; you don’t need a blood test to confirm this fact.

Many of our patients have been there – at the end of their rope with no answers from mainstream medicine. The good news is that we have witnessed numerous Hotze Health & Wellness Center patients reclaim their energy and their lives. You do not have to continue sitting on the sidelines of life because of extreme fatigue.
