Do you have unexplained weight gain, moodiness, no energy, low libido and migraines?

Are you a new mom who is struggling with fatigue and postpartum depression?

Are you a college student with terrible fatigue, PMS and difficulty concentrating and focusing on your studies?

Do you suffer with allergies, asthma or painful recurring sinus infections?

Do you have yeast infections and bloating, constipation and heartburn?

As women, we can experience a number of different health symptoms as we go through life. You could feel great up until you enter your 30s or 40s, or your symptoms could start as early as your teens. It’s different for every woman, but one thing that we’ve learned since Dr. Hotze opened the Hotze Health & Wellness Center in 1989 is that there are 8 key factors to evaluate for optimal women’s health.

8 Key Factors to Evaluate for Optimal Women’s Health
1. Hormone Decline and Imbalance

The Importance of Hormones for Good Health

We are all created with God-given hormones that regulate every function in our body. When something happens to cause those hormone levels to decline, we feel it.  All of the hormones work together like in a symphony. If one declines, it affects the others. It’s like a domino effect. The key is to figure out the pieces to the puzzle and solve the underlying cause of your symptoms.

The sex hormones, progesterone, estrogen and testosterone, all play a crucial role in women’s health. There are certain times in a woman’s life when she is more likely to experience hormone decline:

  • At puberty
  • After childbirth
  • While on birth control pills
  • When taking counterfeit hormones such as Premarin and Prempro
  • After a hysterectomy or tubal ligation
  • When a woman enters menopause

Conventional Solution

When it comes to symptoms of hormone decline, conventional doctors typically offer a drug for each symptom. They prescribe antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, sleep medications, and more. You’ve probably already experienced this. These drugs come with many negative side effects, and they do not solve the underlying cause of your symptoms.

Conventional doctors will typically offer synthetic hormone drugs such as birth control pills for PMS and various other symptoms. They prescribe Premarin, Prempro and Provera as menopause treatment. These counterfeit hormones have been shown to have numerous negative side effects, including increased risk of blood clots, stroke and heart disease, as well as breast cancer.

Natural Solution

The natural solution is to replace what is missing with bioidentical hormones that are identical to the hormones produced by your body.

2. Hypothyroidism

Low thyroid function is the cause of many unwanted health symptoms. If you’ve been doing your research and discovered that you have many of its symptoms, you may finally feel some relief that you know what is going on. However, you may be disappointed when you go to your doctor and he tells you that “your blood work is normal.”

There may be more than 13 million Americans who are unaware that they have hypothyroidism. Unfortunately, most conventional doctors miss this diagnosis due to a single blood test – the TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). This lab test fails the majority of patients because the lab range that is so wide that the majority of people fall within the normal range, even though they are hypothyroid. Don’t let this happen to you.

At the Hotze Health & Wellness Center, we believe in listening to and evaluating the patient’s symptoms. We do not rely solely on a single blood test. We treat hypothyroidism with compounded T3/T4, which contains both the inactive (T4) and active (T3) thyroid hormones.

3. Adrenal Fatigue

Are you suffering from severe fatigue? Have you been told that you have chronic fatigue syndrome? Like hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue is a common condition that is overlooked by conventional medicine.

Adrenal fatigue occurs when the adrenal glands cannot produce enough cortisol to meet the demands of your body.  You begin to feel increasingly fatigued, stressed, and anxious, among many other health symptoms.

We treat adrenal fatigue using physiologic, subreplacement doses of bioidentical cortisol to support your adrenal glands.  Cortisol is essential for good health since it boosts your immune system, increasing your resistance to infections and inflammation. Cortisol is also important in promoting the assimilation of both thyroid and sex hormones by the cells of your body.

Adrenal Fatigue Symptoms

  • Severe fatigue – the number one symptom of adrenal fatigue
  • Anxiety or panic attacks
  • Hair loss
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness upon standing
  • Hypotension (low blood pressure)
  • Heart palpitations
  • Difficulty “bouncing back” from stress
  • Recurrent infections
  • Allergies and/or asthma
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Infertility
  • Low libido
  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
  • Cold and heat intolerance
  • Depression
  • Headaches

Ryanne’s Story of Extreme Fatigue

Ryanne had such bad fatigue that she felt like a “zombie girl.” She was so tired all the time that she could not get off of the couch. She was missing out on life. Conventional doctors told her that her blood tests were normal and that she was fine, but her doctors did not listen to her symptoms to evaluate the root cause of her fatigue. Dr. Steven Hotze explains how hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue are a common underlying cause of extreme fatigue. Learn how bioidentical hormones can give you your energy and vitality back!

4. Airborne Allergies

Allergies are the 6th leading cause of chronic illness in the United States. An allergy is an abnormal reaction by your immune system to normally occurring substances in the environment. Common airborne allergens include weed, grass and tree pollens, dust and dust mites, mold spores and animal danders.

LDI (Low Dose Immunotherapy)

We now offer LDA (Low Dose Allergen Immunotherapy), a breakthrough allergy treatment, at the Hotze Health & Wellness Center.  LDI is a unique therapy that has much broader effects, acts faster and is longer lasting than conventional allergy treatments. Rather than the 20–40 inhalant allergens in allergy drops and shots, LDI desensitizes you to more than 300 common airborne irritants, foods and chemicals. The best news is that since we administer LDI sublingually (under the tongue), this means you can take your dose at home! No more trips to the doctor’s office for allergy shots. This treatment is beneficial and safe for both children and adults.

Common Allergy Symptoms

  • Fatigue
  • Frequent headaches
  • Sneezing, post nasal drainage or itching of the nose
  • Frequent “colds”
  • Recurrent or chronic sinus infections
  • Recurrent yeast infections, jock itch or athlete’s foot
  • Dizziness
  • Itching, watering, redness or swelling of the eyes
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Recurrent ear infections
  • Recurrent cough or bronchitis
  • Tightness in the chest, wheezing or asthma
  • Eczema, skin rashes, itching or hives
  • Indigestion, bloating, diarrhea or constipation

Heidi’s Story

Heidi couldn’t go anywhere without her inhaler. She had severe allergies and asthma and could not do normal things outside. She had sinus infections every 6 to 8 weeks. She was miserable. She also had hypothyroidism, but conventional doctors told her that her symptoms were all in her head. Watch to find out how Heidi got her life back!

5. Food Allergies

Common food allergens are wheat, corn, egg, yeast, milk, soybean and coconut. Many of the symptoms of food allergies overlap with airborne allergies. Food allergies can be treated through an elimination and rotation diet.  As we mentioned above, Low Dose Immunotherapy (LDI) can help desensitize you to food sensitivities.

6. Candida/Yeast-Overgrowth

Have you ever taken an antibiotic? Do you have cravings for carbohydrates, sugars, or anything starchy? Do you feel fatigued or sluggish? Do you have chronic yeast infections?

Candida Albicans is a fungus which lives and overgrows in our intestines causing an imbalance in the normal bacteria of the colon so that you get less normal healthy bacteria, and more yeast. It produces 180 chemical toxins capable of causing various symptoms throughout your body.

In order to get rid of yeast, it is essential that you starve and kill the yeast, and replace the normal bacteria in the colon, which is Lactobacillus Acidophilus.  We recommend a yeast-free, grain-free eating program that eliminates dietary sources of yeast, sugar and carbohydrate-rich foods that provide nourishment to yeast. We have nutritionists to guide you along this yeast-free eating program.

Candida Symptoms

  • Bloating
  • Belching
  • Excessive gas
  • Constipation
  • Heartburn
  • Cramps
  • Pain
  • Indigestion
  • Diarrhea
  • Headaches

  • Immune suppression
  • Chemical sensitivity
  • Muscle aches
  • Hives
  • Fungal infections under fingernails and toenails
  • Vaginal yeast infections
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Joint pain
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Athlete’s foot
  • Thrush, a white coating on the tongue

Hessed’s Story

Hessed took antibiotics throughout her life to fight infections. However, when antibiotics inevitably kill good bacteria, it creates an imbalance with bad bacteria – which causes more infections including yeast infections, which so many women have experienced. Find out what Hessed did to overcome yeast overgrowth and how she got her life back!

7. Vitamin and Mineral Supplementation

The typical American eating program consists of packaged and processed foods that are depleted of most of their vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals provide the nutritional foundation for a healthy body, yet most of us do not get what we need from the foods we eat. Therefore, vitamin and mineral supplementation is essential.

Dark Blue box of PowerPak vitamins

Dr. Hotze’s Signature PowerPak makes taking vitamins easier than ever. Including all of your essential vitamins and minerals in daily, convenient vitamin packets, the PowerPak  provides you with the most pure and high-quality nutrients that you need to fuel your body, boost your immune system and live a happy, healthy life. 8. Healthy Eating and Exercise Plan

What you put into your body is so important.  You may have heard of the term “garbage in, garbage out.” If you eat fast food and processed foods, then you are not nourishing your body and you won’t feel well. You must give your body the nutrients it needs to thrive.

Staying active with regular exercise helps keep your body and mind in great shape. It helps you detoxify from harmful substances.  It helps relieve stress and boost your mood, not to mention helping you maintain your ideal body weight.
