Hi there,
My name is Carol and I am 47-years-old. My journey began in 1992. I was having family problems and became very depressed. I went to several doctors who eventually prescribed antidepressants. As a result, my weight ballooned 50 pounds in 15 months! The doctor blamed it on my diet and lack of activity, which neither was true. I have worked out three days a week my entire life and have been aware of my diet and eating habits. He had no interest in what I had to say and he did not listen.
My next encounter with doctors was because I thought it might be possible that I had hypothyroidism. My levels “were within normal limits”, so again I was told it must be my diet and lack of activity. The doctor’s insulting comment was “calories in, calories out” eat less and move more.
Finally, one doctor was willing to prescribe Synthroid to soothe my anger against doctors who didn’t listen or give me the time of day. I really didn’t see any change or benefit in taking the Synthroid. I was still tired all the time and unmotivated in life. I continued to take naps four to five times a week, wake up sluggish, and my memory was poor. My husband stood by me and encouraged me to keep seeking professional help until I found someone who would listen and understand. He heard Dr. Hotze advertised on the radio for months. I finally relented to his pressure to go see this doctor.
The staff and doctors were extremely friendly and courteous. The doctors listened for as long as you wanted to talk and ask questions. I now am proud to say I have lost 35 pounds and have gone from a size 14 to a size 6! No more naps, lots of energy and the depression is gone. That tells the whole story in a nutshell.
